On July 31st, Premier Li Keqiang chaired the State Council Executive Meeting. The meeting confirmed the promotion of cultural and tourism consumption by conducting the principle of consumption to benefit people, enriching product supply and improving market supervision. He has particularly emphasized supporting of the development of cruise tourism Industry.
Chinese cruise tourism started from 2006 and had a decade of rapid development. However, the chartering mode caused low price for several years. In 2018, several cruise ships left the Chinese market. Mr. Zheng Weihang, the Executive Vice President & Secretary General of China Cruise & Yacht Industry Association(CCYIA), pointed out that the Chinese cruise industry has entered an adjustment period, he hoped the market to keep a reasonable price level, and proposed that on board shopping could be actively guided, South Korean routes could return, and more tourist destinations should be developed. The senior executives of cruise companies also indicated that their confidence on China has not been changed, and their determination to a long term persistence became firmer.
Premier Li Keqiang and the State Council’s concern and support for the cruise development once again gave encouragement and confidence to the industry. On August 1st, CCYIA touched the relevant departments of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The Ministry committed CCYIA to collect industry opinions and propose practical measures and suggestions for their reference and research.
