On March 7, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cruise Industry Development Seminar was opened in Nansha. The Seminar was hosted by the Guangzhou Port Authority, Bureau of Commerce of Guangzhou Municipality and Guangzhou Nansha District People’s Government, and was supported by Guangzhou Port Group, CCCC(Guangzhou)Cruise Homeport Investment Development CO., LTD and Genting Cruise Lines with the theme of 'Innovating Greater Bay Area, Starting New Cruise Voyage', the seminar attracted nearly a hundred government department representatives,  famous experts and scholars and other insider of cruise industry from Guangdong province, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong to attend, discussing how to further implement the “Outline of the Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”, innovatively develop cruise tourism leisure industry and service products in the Greater Bay Area, promote the integration and development of the cruise industry in the Greater Bay Area, and jointly enhance the international competitiveness of the cruise industry in the Bay Area.

President Zheng pointed out that the cruise industry development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has already reached the height of the national cruise industry strategy, can the release of the ' Outline of the Development Plan ' be regarded as another 'east wind' to promote the cruise economy development in the Bay Area for a long time? It is suggested that the cruise industry study and explore how to take advantage of the opportunity to promote the development orderly. He sees at least four opportunities.

First, the economic development level of the Greater Bay Area is leading in China, the tourism concept and consumption are advanced and rational, the planning focus and direction of efforts are very clear. The policy is unique. In addition to the simplification of documents, can we use the opportunity to promote cruise ships to take priority in busy shipping lanes and Guangzhou homeport cruise ships to travel to and from Hong Kong via Shenzhen Channel? What I also want to emphasize is: How the three international cruise port of Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shenzhen clear differential development orientation, how to establish a relationship of competition and cooperation with the unity of knowledge and practice, unity is significant, which is the basis and prerequisite of constructing the Greater Bay Area ‘s international tourism destination cruise.

Second, vigorously promoting the development of manufacturing industry and advancing manufacturing industry is the only way to reach the middle and high end of the industry, and enhancing the core competitiveness of manufacturing industry in the Greater Bay Area is listed as one of the development goals of the region. At present, China's cruise ship manufacturing has started, and the manufacturing industry cluster in the Greater Bay Area has obvious advantages. It is suggested that we fully integrate the industrial chains in Zhuhai, Foshan, Zhongshan, Huizhou, Dongguan and other places, take  the advantages of scientific and technological research and development capabilities of Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and build the Greater Bay Area into an internationally competitive cruise ship manufacturing and repairing base with Guangzhou Shipyard International Company Limited as the core.

Third, the “Outline of the Development Plan”  focuses on promoting the professionalization of productive services and the high-end extension of the value chain. Productive services mainly include research and development and design services for production activities, warehousing and logistics services, information services, financial services, energy conservation and environmental protection services. It is proposed that Guangzhou Nansha lead to set up the Greater Bay Area cruise industrial park, refine financial services, information services and logistics services, and promote high-end shipping services such as cruise leasing, cruise management, cruise financing, cruise maritime insurance, cruise tax exemption, and cruise ship supply in the Bay Area, which undoubtedly provide powerful guarantee for the cruise lines at home and abroad, especially for the establishment and operations of local cruise ships.

Fourth, Lingnan culture, represented by Cantonese Opera, Dragon Boat, Martial Arts and Lion Dance, is of unique cultural charm, keeping the cultural self-confidence is of great significance to not only the protection and publicity of cultural relics and historic sites in the Greater Bay Area but also the promotion of cultural exchanges and mutual learning between China and foreign countries. Over the years, China's cruise cultural communication is limited, educational resources are not balanced, the talent gap is huge. In particular, the development of inbound tourism continues to be sluggish, which is naturally caused by various factors. However, it is indisputable that the cultural and tourism products in China's tourism cities are lack of planning, lack of creativity, whose low quality and repetition caused low attraction to international tourists. It is suggested that relevant universities in Hong Kong take the lead to establish the Greater Bay Area Cruise College to cultivate and build a cruise talent team in the whole Bay Area, and the three core cities Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shenzhen in the Greater Bay Area and all the Bay Area cities cooperate to compile the “Outline of the Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”, jointly build the images and products such as the Greater Bay Area’s leisure, humanities and healthy lifestyle, which not only have a positive role to the cruise tourism, but also attract more visitors from inland areas to the experience the cruise + tourism vacation, effectively expanding the scope of cruise tourism.

From the seminar, the reporter learned that new cruise terminal appearance project in Nansha Guangzhou has been basically completed, revealing the mysterious veil, and is currently carrying out internal decoration construction and other projects. The new cruise terminal project will begin trial docking and operational drills in October this year, and will officially open for operation when the 14th China Cruise Shipping Conference (CCS14) is held in November.
